What You Need To KNOW Before REQUESTING YOUR FREE RESUME

The program has become VERY popular and I know that some of you find yourself in dire straits so I am working 24/7 to get your resumes to you as soon as possible. I want to be able to give everyone the best resume possible and I am working as fast as possible.

If you are not prepared to answer questions pertaining to your resume in a timely manner you may want to delay your request until you are ready, as the more time I have to spend chasing information and re-writing documents due to incorrect or incomplete information the longer your fellow veterans have to wait for their resumes. If you send different versions of your resume, please make sure the dates, job titles, and duties match up. I have had difficulty with the confusion caused by opposing, incomplete, and unclear information. If you send multiple resumes where the information differs, please write down the dates and job positions on a separate document in the order you wish for them to appear on your finished product. REMEMBER, a good resume depends on the correct information and communication...this is a collaborative effort and by not doing your part your chances of getting the job you deserve may be negatively affected. Since I am working alone on so many documents I'm sure you can understand the crucial need for things to run smoothly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and thanks to all of you who have played a considerate and active role in the creation of your resume. Let's work together to make this program a success that benefits all of you...you deserve it.

Unless otherwise specified by you a private sector resume will be created. Please specify whether you want a private sector or federal resume in your initial request. Thank you for your cooperation.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR "FAST", THE FREE RESUME IS NOT A GOOD OPTION FOR YOU.  I DO STRIVE TO COMPLETE YOUR RESUME AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

Please notify us if your contact information changes

Thank You!

What I Will Need To Know (Please gather the following information)

You can download the questionnaire at the bottom of the page or simply cut and paste from this page. If you will be sending a past resume you, of course, may disregard any questions addressed by your resume...but please, make sure the information is covered completely by checking your resume before returning your questionnaire. Please DO NOT send a bunch of documents in place of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to make it easier and faster to complete resumes. The more time I have to search for information, the longer you (and fellow veterans) have to wait for your resume. It will also cause me to have to work even longer hours to get back on schedule. I'm sure you can understand the importance of keeping ontop of things when only one person is writing hundreds of resumes without any days off.

Exactly what type of job are you going to be applying (A job ad always helps)?

Please list the names of any commendations/medals you may have received that are not listed on your original resume and what they were for and when did you receive them?

Do you possess any special licenses?

Did you receive any civilian education prior to or after entering military service? If so, where, when (Dates), and what did you study/what did you major/minor in?

Education History:

School name | School location • Year of Graduation, or expected date of graduation • Degree Achieved • GPA (if possible)

Any school activities or organizations you may have taken part in.

Name and explain the courses, training, certifications you received in military (Courses taken for your MOS – a breakdown. Including any leadership courses taken and courses that relate to the position for which you will be applying is a good idea.), or civilian training that you believe relate to the position you will be seeking along with the dates you attended. Including the number of hours you amassed for each class/course is a very good idea, if at all possible. Good references for this would be documents such as your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF), Navy Enlisted Classification file, or Verification of Military Experience and Training (VMET).

Are you, or have you been, active in any charity/volunteer organizations, this includes offices held, or projects that are not shown on your original resume? If so, when and what are they and where were they? What role did you take in the organization(s)? Even attending a single event and not being a member of an organization is acceptable.

Are you a member of any professional organizations? If so, which ones, what do they do, and when were you a member?

Have you been a part of any projects concerning past and present employers that hold some importance? Anything where you stood out in a crowd? If so, when and what were they? Please explain your role in the project. I will need some career highlights (These reference specific events) aside from your basic duties for each position you held. Such as:

"Innovatively developed and authored documentation for instructing the Material Acquisition Course and the Mobile Training Course resulting in the successful certification of large number of instructors."

OR

"Methodically screened cost model data on conversions and assured legal soundness resulting in a 100% pass rate in arduous reviews, as well as scrutinizing $8.7 million in contract personnel and equipment costs to guarantee proposal compliance."

Ask yourself, did I...

  • Get more done with fewer resources

  • Save the company money

  • Reduce costs

  • Streamline a process

  • Introduce a new system or process

  • Launch a new product or service

  • Improve staff morale

  • Improve team performance

  • Achieve a budget or come in under budget

  • Meet deadlines

  • Participate in a project group

  • Solve a problem

  • Restore an ailing customer/supplier relationship

  • Take on extra responsibilities

  • Lead by example

  • Go above and beyond to get a task done

  • Step in and help a team member

  • Provide outstanding service (internal or external)?

Think about the impact of your actions. Another way to do this is to think about what you are most proud of in the role. What was the role like when you joined the team – was morale low, high staff turnover, disorganized perhaps? Have a good think back to when you started. What problems did you see immediately? What did you do to improve things?

Do you or can you obtain a security clearance? If you have a clearance, what level is it and why were you required to hold one? Is it active?

Have you ever written anything that was published (booklets, educational materiel, newsletters, etc.)? If so, what? Please explain the publication.

Do you have any computer skills (such as Microsoft Office)? If so, what systems, computer languages, applications, work-related systems and methods, databases, technological devices, or hardware? Have you received and training or certification for these skills?

Have you ever had any speaking engagements or presentations (Before Small or Large Groups – briefings for small groups count)? If so, where, for what, and when?

Are there any acronyms on your original resume that have not been explained or written out? I can guess what they are and probably get the right, but it’s best to make sure. For a transitional resume for civilian employers the acronyms must be spelled out. Not all civilians are used to a lot of acronyms as we are. I go home to visit family and they look at me as if I am speaking an alien language…it’s the same with civilian employers.

Do you speak any other languages? If so, which ones?

Have you ever supervised any personnel (even just a couple of people count)? If so, how many and for what ask?

Please list any heavy equipment, weapons, vehicles and endorsements, office equipment, machinery, etc. with which you have experience that may relate or benefit your chosen field of expertise (for which you are applying). Are you certified or licensed to use these items?
